Healthcare Worker Surveillance is required annually for Stanford University employees who work with patients or in patient care areas. This surveillance can include:
  • Immunization Verification
  • Hazardous Drugs Screening
  • Hepatitis B Screening
  • MMRV Screening
  • N95 Respirator Medical Clearance and Fit Testing
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening

LAOHP Surveillance is required annually for Stanford University employees who work directly with, or in close proximity to, vertebrate animals, including unfixed animal tissues or body fluids. This surveillance can include:
  • Immunization Verification
  • Screening for zoonotic diseases (infectious agents shared by humans and animals)
  • Animal Allergy Assessment
  • N95 Respirator Medical Clearance and Fit Testing
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening

Hearing Conservation Program Surveillance is required for Stanford University employees with on-the-job noise exposure that meet Cal/OSHA actionable levels (exceeds 85 dBA as an 8 hr-time weighted average). To prevent permanent noise-induced hearing loss, annual audiograms are required at our Occupational Health Center.

Respiratory protection can be voluntary-use or required for Stanford University employees with on-the-job respiratory hazard exposures. Any employee who is required to use a respirator as part of their job must receive annual medical clearance from our Occupational Health Center. After medical clearance, required respiratory protection users need annual fit testing.

DOT Medical Exams and Commercial Motor Vehicle Certifications are required for Stanford University employees with the following work requirements:
  • Operate a motor vehicle for interstate commerce with a gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight rating, or gross combination weight of over 10,000 pounds
  • Operate a motor vehicle designed to carry more than 15 people
  • Are paid to operate a motor vehicle designed to carry more than eight people
  • Transport hazardous materials that required your vehicle to be placarded

BSL3 Surveillance is required for Stanford University employees who work with COVID and/or Tuberculosis. Depending on the nature of work, employees may be required to get medical clearance every 6-months to a year.
